The topic of cosmetics production is a very broad one. It is the duty of every production company to ensure quality of their product. The term quality includes such aspects as proper packaging, a carton box that is pleasant to the touch, a well-printed and adequately content-rich label, a nice smell and consistency of the product. But quality also means one more thing: the manufacturer’s responsibility for the safety of the user of their product.

As recently as the 1990s, Polish legislation set low and imprecise requirements for manufacturers. That changed in 2001 thanks to the Cosmetics Act, and was crowned by the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EC) No 1223/2009. Those two legal instruments regulate the issue of cosmetics production in quite a detailed way. So, we have written rules based on which we work every day, and if anything does not follow directly from legislation, it usually follows from our mission, which is the best possible experience and, above all, safety of the end user of our products. Cosmetics that are mass produced and intended to be sold at beauty supply stores usually have to be well-preserved and protected against microbiological contamination. Things are a bit different when it comes to production of natural cosmetics. In this case, we use mainly organic antioxidants such as tocopherol (vitamin E), curcumin (derived from turmeric root), or extracts of rosemary / tea tree / grapefruit. The effects of natural preservatives are much weaker than those of synthetic ones, so we often work little short of the expiration date. However, we must always make sure that the selected preservatives guarantee safety of the product, at least for the time specified on the packaging. Production of natural cosmetics is therefore a challenging and responsible task, in which special attention must be paid to the hygiene of the entire production line, its cleanliness, and compliance with: ISO standards, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), as well as our internal, additional rules that we introduce in order to fulfill our mission even better.
